Lake Garda’s green gold
Lush olive groves grow on the shores of the lake, which yield an oil with a fresh fragrance and light aromatic notes. Malcesine has a long olive-growing tradition: The olive-growers’ consortium was founded in 1946 and the various growers built their own mill for producing Garda DOP oil. The oil from Malcesine, “Garda orientale”, has an intense green colour with soft yellow hues, a fruity fragrance, and a light taste, with a low level of acidity. The quality of the oil is especially high, as the producers still collect the olives by hand directly from the tree, milling and cold-pressing them using millstones, as was the case in years gone by.

Salted beef is a real delicacy: It stands out thanks to the selection of the best cuts of beef, the massaging of the meat during salting, and the skilful mixing of aromas. Salted beef was awarded De.Co. (Denominazione di Origine Comunale) protected status in 2015 and is an exquisite dish that is widely appreciated and has won numerous awards.
